Polyflor recently proposed a sponsorship agreement with the Floorcovering
Association of NSW that would attract careers in laying vinyl floors.
Polyflor contacted the association based on the concerns in the shortfall of
vinyl floor layers in Australia and how this was becoming detrimental
to contractors and the whole industry. With the introduction of the
Vinyl flooring Apprentice and Traineeship incentive scheme Polyflor
is offering a rebate scheme to assist in financing the recruitment
and training of Apprentices and Traineeships in NSW.
Polyflor will be supported by contractors who are involved with the
association and through purchasing Polyflor Design FX will offer
contractors the normal day to day discounted price and Polyflor will
pay a rebate of $2 per square metre
for every product purchased of Polyflor Design FX. Polyflor will be
pay the rebate quarterly into a trust which will be set up by the
Floorcovering Association of NSW which can be spent on the
recruitment and resources required to support the Vinyl Flooring
Apprentices and Trainees.
Polyflor would like to congratulate the NSW Floorcovering Association for its
proactive response in supporting the idea of the rebate initiative
and to continuing to build and recruit people into the Vinyl Flooring
Industry.
Contractors who are ordering stock through Polyflor for this rebate are to
include “ASP’ in the front of their normal order number for the
rebate to be claimed.

To quote a member of the board: "I am keen to ensure that this site is a tool that can be used as part of the FCA's promotional facilities, in our efforts to invigorate apprentice training, and inform and encourage the floor covering industry in our efforts to address the current skills shortage."
In May 1981, the first meeting of the association was held. Since then, the assoc. has been very active and proud of our success in the following areas.
- The training of apprentice installers at Lidcombe TAFE, including input into the curriculum and the provision of scholarships.
- The negotiation of an Industry Agreement (EBA) with the CFMEU on behalf of member companies.
- Independent inspection and reports of installations.
- A web page with links under the assoc. banner for member companies.
- Support of the Children’s Hospital Westmead.
